Notes A copy of a black and white full length portrait of John Stephen Allan and his second wife Sarah Ann (nee Piggott), standing together each side of a fence roughly constructed from fallen branches. He is resting his left elbow on the top rail and is wearing a dark 3 piece suit. He has a bushy greying beard and moustache and receding hairline. Sarah is holding onto the rail and is wearing a dark, full length, long sleeved dress with her dark hair combed severly back behind her ears from a central parting.

Summary A 1996 copy of a black and white photo in good condition. John Stephen Allan born Aberdeen, Scotland 26 May 1843, arrived Australia 1860, died Petersham Sydney 28 Dec 1915. Married Letitia Adgey at Nerrigundah NSW 10 Dec 1864. Letitia died 11 June 1873 at Majors Creek NSW. Second marriage to Sarah Ann Piggott of Majors Creek at 'Oddfellows Hotel' Braidwood 9 Jan 1875, Proprietor 'Oddfellows Arms Hotel' Newtown Araluen 1868-1874. Proprietors 'Oddfellows Hotel' Wallace St Braidwood 1874-1876, Baker at Majors Creek 1876-1877. Worshipful Master of Lodge Peabody Majors Creek 1877, 1878, 1879. Proprietor 'Commercial Hotel' Elrington Majors Creek 1877-1879. Joined Lands Dept as Forest Ranger March 1879. Moved his family to Ulladulla 1883.
