Field name Details
Corporate Name National Library of Australia
Title 124-144 Wallace Street Braidwood Streetscape [Photograph]
Description 1 copy black and white photograph 217mm x 163mm
Notes A copy black and white photograph of the shop fronts at 124-144 Wallace Street Braidwood. A prominent sign indicates the first business is a tailor's. Handwriting in ink on the photograph indicates this is Mr Gracie's business as an Ironmonger. Next to that is Fraser, then Meddin (?), then possibly an oriental name. Next to that on a building sign is R. or P. Lindsay with proprietor & another man standing out front. A red & white striped barber's pole protrudes outwards from the awning next to the N.S.W. Bank which neighbours the Literary Institute #144 on opposite Park Lane corner. Other proprietors & male staff, and 2 dogs stand before their businesses and 2 or 3 boys lean against Gracie's window. This photo is most likely pre 1913 when Len Mutton Cut Price, (later Len Mutton & Co), started trading at Fraser's store and F.H. Dowell grocer had replaced Gracie's tailoring ironmongery.
